ABOUT MARIANNE
Recognized for “[her] very pretty mezzo voice which she uses with great musicality…” (Revue L’Opéra), Marianne Bertrand is a canadian mezzo-soprano from Montreal who is “Extremely gifted in dramatic interpretation...” (Revue L'Opéra). Marianne is currently a Young Artist in the Vancouver Opera's Yulanda M. Faris Young Artist Program for their 2026/2027 season. As part of their season, she will perform the roles of Berta in Il barbiere di Siviglia and Flora in La Traviata, as well as understudy Rosina (Il barbiere di Siviglia). She will also perform the solo opera of La voix humaine as part of Vancouver Opera's Voices Free Concert Series in recital. In Vancouver Opera's 2025/2026 season, she has performed the role of Giovanna (Rigoletto), as well as understudied Maddalena (Rigoletto), Dorabella (Così fan tutte) and Musetta (La Bohème). Marianne has performed the role of Prince Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus) and understudied Prince Charmant (Cendrillon) at the Berlin Opera Academy. She has also performed the roles of Zweite Dame (Die Zauberflöte), Hänsel (Hänsel und Gretel), Dido (Dido and Aeneas), and Croûte-au-pot (Mesdames de la Halle) in Montreal. She is a laureate of the national CFMTA competition where she won the second prize and the Tiffany A. Wilson prize for the best interpretation of an Italian aria. She is also a laureate of several other competitions, such as the CALRM, Lanaudière, Classival and Sherbrooke.
